The Prep Verdict exists because most “prepper” content is written for people it doesn’t fit — or leans on gear it shouldn’t. We’re building something else: a resource a suburban parent, a renter, and a retiree can all use without feeling like they wandered into the wrong forum.
1. No firearms, ammunition, or weapons — full stop. Not tasers, not pepper spray, not “tactical” gear dressed up as prepping. This is a hardline editorial policy, not a marketing angle.
2. We test before we recommend. Rankings are based on hands-on use against a written scoring framework, published alongside the results — not on commission rate.
3. Every scenario gets a budget and a premium tier. A real recommendation for a real budget, not just the most expensive option with the best margin.
4. Corrections are public. When a product changes, a program ends, or we get something wrong, the article gets updated and the change is noted — not quietly memory-holed.
